She holds a distinguished Master's in Intercultural Communication from the University of Bedfordshire, UK, and is a summa cum laude graduate of Northwestern University in the USA. Her best-known research has profiled the intercultural field and debunked the popular U-curve model of adjustment.
Kate provides consulting, training, and coaching to help individuals be effective global leaders and organizations navigate complex cultural challenges. She has developed and delivered learning events in more than eighteen countries with individuals from over fifty nations using both online and traditional facilitation tools, and is certified in a variety of instruments. Kate is a frequent presenter at international conferences on the dynamics of culture and leadership in organizations. She has co-authored two books,Building Cultural Competence: Innovative Frameworks & Activities and Putting Diversity to Work: How to Successfully Lead a Diverse Workforce. Kate has lived in the US, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Spain, and Denmark. She is currently based in California.
