After a professional career as a social worker, Elisabeth Sultan began to study Arabic Language and Culture at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris. In the course of her studies, she lived in Egypt to study at the Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language Center (TAFL), University of Alexandria. On returning to France, she completed training in Intercultural Communication at INALCO, during which studies she became particularly interested in the challenges of expatriation. She received the Diploma in Research and Applied Studies by successfully defending her dissertation, "Expatriation and the Shock of Return: A Question of Cultural Identity: Examples from the French Experience." Currently she is an instructor at the Higher Education Institute for Social Work in Nice, France.
