Maria was born and grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, a pluralistic society with the motto "Out of Many One People."
Her conscious intercultural experience began with the study of French, Spanish and German at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and her encounter with the German volunteer service in Jamaica. The experience has been deepened by her marriage to a German national as well as more than 30 years of living and working in Germany, including work with immigrant students at two universities of applied sciences, where she teaches intercultural competence. She also trains on the topic of business English in large and middle-sized companies.
Co-author of "Die Andersmacher", 2008, a book from the series "Inspire" of Kamphausen Publishers, which deals with the role of creativity in the economy and in which she wrote about Martin Gillo of AMD Dresden as a manifestation of intercultural competence. The article is entitled "Leveraging the Power of the Extraordinary." Moreover, she has authored several intercultural articles published in the magazine of the University of Applied Sciences, Mainz, Germany.
Maria is a member of Sietar e.V., Germany, Frankfurt chapter and also holds an accreditation in Developing People Internationally from York Associates and the Cultural Detective Facilitator's Certificate.
