Kathryn Stillings is a freelance editor specializing in intercultural topics. Her parents regularly hosted international students and scholars, which allowed her to experience and appreciate cultural difference from an early age. Formerly, she worked in and around intercultural education for nearly 20 years, half of it as Executive Assistant at The Intercultural Communication Institute, Portland, Oregon, where, among other duties, she coordinated the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication. Kathryn has edited academic books, papers, dissertations, and journal articles; was primary editor of the "What's Up With Culture?" website, a free online training resource for study abroad; and has been part of the Cultural Detective team since 2004.
